The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club is a non-profit making organization run by fans (in their spare time) for fans of Red Dwarf. It is supported by the show creators and grant naylor productions.
1992 also saw the very first Official Red Dwarf Fan Club convention - Dimension Jump '92 whose first guests included; Rob Grant, Doug Naylor and Hattie Hayridge. By DJ'97 the whole cast was in attendance at a convention included Chris Barrie in his worldwide convention debut. While DJ'92 saw 100 attendees, DJ'97 attracted almost 500 people making it the most successful Red Dwarf convention ever. Club membership brings you a club badge, a plastic credit style membership card, and 4 issues of the club Magazine Better Than Life (BTL). BTL had humble beginnings. It appeared somewhat erratically - once every 3 months was the ideal but once every 8 months became the reality. This was not for the want of trying just. The club was virtually a "one man band". And one man can not run a growing growing fan club so he emigrated to America.
BTL is currently 40 to 44 pages long and contains all the latest Red Dwarf news from Grant Naylor Production Offices, interviews, reviews, a lively letters section in Post Pod, features such as Marooned, Bay 47, Gaspacho Soup day plus fiction both written and picture strips. BTL also has top competitions and occasional special offers on official merchandise. The merchandise page offers exclusive fan club merchandise to members only. Items include back issues of BTL, T-shirts, mugs, stationary packs etc... |
