The History of Marzipan
Marzipan
is a very special sweet, for ages called the Harems
Sweet, because it was so precious in ancient times that
the Sultans gave it only to their beloved wives. Marzipan
was made of pure gold back then.
Today its very rare and precious, but
fortunately you dont have to be a Sultan to afford it.
To make the original marzipan you need a special variety of
almonds you only can find in parts of Italy, Spain and Portugal.
These almonds are roasted and ground according
to a long traded procedure and mixed with sugar and special
ingredients.
Today theres only one manufacturer in the world who
has been making marzipan this way for more than one hundred
years: Lubeca in Luebeck, Germany.
We are very proud that we are one of the two
places in the America that processes this exquisite material
into the world famous marzipan figures.
Come, see and enjoy our marzipan fruits, dinosaurs,
puppies, cats and of course our unique razorbacks!
